Multi Cultural Education

The Snake Bite Program specialises in educating about Australian snakes, snake bite prevention and snake safety to multicultural communities. We are very respectful of all religions, cultures, beliefs, backgrounds, ethnicity and what makes Australia a diverse and prospering nation. The Entire Snake Bite Program family (pictured below) shows how we are a multicultural family ourselves.

WE COME FROM A MULTICULTURAL LAND DOWN UNDER

Jessie (pictured) is the oldest sister of Aishah. She is a prime example of how multicultural Australia is. Jessie is a second generation born Australian with a heritage background including countries of: England, Russia, Germany, Indigenous Australian, Taiwan and Norway. Jessie is also of the Muslim faith and considers herself to be 100% pure Australian. Jessie's role at the Snake Bite Program is multicultural liaison and coordinator to help develop programs specific to the diverse cultural backgrounds within Australia.

At The Snake Bite Program, Jessie works with different religious or ethnic groups to better understand Australian snakes, snake safety and awareness, the important role snakes play within the ecosystem and why it is illegal to harm and kill snakes. Jessie is very passionate about this role and helping Aishah achieve her goals of a safer Australia for all when it comes to our beautiful snakes.

INTERNATIONAL REPTILE SHOWS - LEARN ABOUT AUSTRALIAN NATIVE REPTILE FAUNA

International visitors can get a hands on approach to learning about snakes. Pictured are guests from Austria who on visiting family in Australia, did not want to get caught up in the crowds of a zoo so instead organised a private reptile show. The family could not speak English 100% so we worked closely with the family who translated our presentation into Austrian. The kids and parents go to see: Frogs, dragons, lizards, turtles, pythons and crocodiles up close in a hands on reptile show where you can hold the animals.

Everyone also go the chance to see and learn about Australia's most deadly snakes (but not touch) in an amazing international reptile party. Our goal at The Snake bite Program Multicultural reptile show is for everyone regardless of language or place of origin to learn about the amazing reptiles and amphibians of Australia.

We can educate your specific religious or culturally diverse community about snake safety. Our goal through education is:

  • People will be less likely to try to kill snakes.

  • Reduced interaction with snakes results in less snake bites.

  • People will develop an appreciation of snakes

  • People will understand what to do if bitten by a snake.

  • Snake bite education reduces the risk that individuals will seek traditional remedies and will instead opt for antivenom treatments resulting in a greater chance of survival.
