About Mark Pelley 'The Snake Hunter'

Mark is the father of Aishah and raised her and her sisters in a single parent home for the past 10 years. Mark raised up Aishah around snakes and encouraged her to pursue her dreams in every aspect of her life including her career. Well known in the media, the local community and in the herpetology industry, Mark provides invaluable experience when handling and dealing with venomous snakes.

  • Bachelor of Nursing - Victoria University, 2005

  • Certificate II in Security Operations – Kangan Institute, 2010

  • Certificate IV in Government – ICETS, 2010.

  • Certificate III in Private Investigations – ASSI, 2011

  • Bachelor of Psychology and Management – Deakin University, 2011

  • Graduate Certificate in Migration Law & Practice – The Aust. National University, 2014

  • Masters in Mental Health – University of Qld, 2014

  • Certificate III & IV in Fitness & Personal Training – MITT, 2017

  • Certificate III in Dog Training & Obedience – NDTF, 2021

MARK'S WORK EXPERIENCE

Mark has extensive experience working in public, private as well as the healthcare sectors in various fields including:

  • Multiple stages between 2005 – Current: Mental health nursing in community, correction, immigration, drug and alcohol, and hospital triage as well as inpatient services

  • 2007 – 2010: Drugs & Poisons Officer at the Department of Health involving regulation & investigation of health care providers and auditing of industry poisons permit holders.

  • 2008 – 2015: Private security including crowd control, investigation and building operations

  • 2012 – Current: Director of “THE SNAKE HUNTER” including work such as snake catching, reptile shows and reptile parties, consulting about snakes, snake presentations, snake safety training, development of information about snakes & OHS in the field of snake awareness.

  • 2014 - Current: Prinicpal Migration Agent MARN 1568830 of “VISAS TO AUSTRALIA” where Mark specialises in all types of visa applications, AAT appeals and Ministerial Interventions. 

  • 2017 - Current: Director and owner of “CANINE SNAKE AVOIDANCE” specialising in training dogs to avoid venomous snakes.

  • 2022 - Current: Director of “THE VACCINE NATION” - Mark, as a registered nurse, runs a nurse immunisation practice.

ROLE AT THE SNAKE BITE PROGRAM


Mark's role at the Snake bite program is as a contractor for the handling and snake venom milking process. Any area of the business pertaining to the exposure of venomous snakes is handled by Mark to ensure safety to all.

Mark also operates as a consultant as required for the Snake Bite Program around husbandry, snake welfare and general well being.

​

Mark has extensive experience working with and handling snakes that he has acquired over many years catching venomous snakes both in Australia and overseas. Mark specializes in venomous snakes and teaches businesses, communities and government agencies about how to be safe around snakes.
