JESSIE'S BACKGROUND
Jessie was raised by a single dad (The Snake Hunter) from aged 12. She quickly adapted the role of the oldest sister and matured very fast. She left school in year 11 to pursue her legal studies in TAFE while helping and working in the home business of her dad. As a devout Muslim, Jessie has received criticisms for her choice in dress wear but with the support of her family and strong faith, never let the opinions of others get her down. Jessie's goal is to show that it is not how you dress or how you look, and it does not matter what faith or culture you have, but that it is the content and strength of your character that is important and you can achieve anything in life. Jessie has used those who have discriminated against her as fuel for her success in future and aims to empower multicultural communities.

Jessie is currently working towards her own goals in life but still helps out as a subcontractor in to help develop educational programs and policy with a focus on multicultural and migrant communities about snakes in Australia.

Jessie's goals in future are to become a registered lawyer and psychologist but for now, pays for her way through university through her pet sitting and house cleaning businesses & her contract role at the SNAKE BITE PROGRAM.

JESSIE'S LINK WITH THE ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY & ISLAM
Jessie, like her sisters, is a descendant of the stolen generation. She is a member of the Gunurkanai tribe. Being raised by a non indigenous father, Jessie was (through no fault of her own) separated from her community as neither she, her sisters or her father knew how to create links with her community. By chance, when she was 20, Jessie's sister met her cousin and the sisters were relinked with the Aboriginal community.

As both a proud Muslim and member of the Gunurkanai community, Jessie aims to bring her knowledge of animals and her cultural heritage and religious beliefs to teach Muslims, Aboriginal people and all about animals across these cultural beliefs.

Jessie is a big believer in being kind to animals and teaching people to better understand Australian endemic snakes and reptiles. With a focus on migrant communities, Jessie will play a valuable role in helping shape education at the SNAKE BITE PROGRAM
Jessie's Goals
Education for Australians about indigenous beliefs & attitudes towards animals
